what would you do if...?

Been reading a few blogs on the recent hysteria over the cartoons that "insult" Muslims

Was the Danish newspaper justified in publishing the cartoon in the name of "freedom of press", are the radicals justified in burning embassies down in the name of "freedom to protest"?? Is there an answer to these questions??

(For the side of the story that's less heard read
http://www.milligazette.com/dailyupdate/2006/20060214-analysis-cartoons.htm )

Made me want to cook up a book, you know like the ones that (I am sure) some Mrs Jones writes sitting on her rocking chair, those that apparently make you question your inner feelings and blahs...

You know the ones I mean na... "Would you kill a butterfly by pulling off its wings if it would get you an all-expense paid vacation to Europe", and ofcourse the witty follow up being "would you step on a cockroach if.... ". And if you answer no to one and yes to the second then you are supposed to feel all guilty for being a superficial person who judges an object by its beauty. Well, I am thinking more aantel than that...

Ok how about:
If you could would you
Legalise prostitution as a profession since some women do it by choice?
or
Allow mercy killing of a severely handicapped child right at birth?
or
Ban arranged marriage since it means forced sex with a stranger for a lot of women?
or
Set bush on fire if it would make New England warmer in the winters...

You can see I am bored

ummm your bored questions can be long serious discussions so i am assuming that you were being sarcy...
1. wondering demands for prostitution to be legalised is only because some women do it out of choice.
2. killing a handicapped child at birth- i don't know...objectively speaking i would say ya ya why not ? but it was a baby i had my body through the torture of 9 months and decades of menstral cycle and a baby that i really wanted i would not say that.
3. burning down embassies is irrational for whatever reasons...i am wondering about this mob mentality business now...where do these criminal rioteers come from and where do they go...in the sense the person standing next to me in the train can tommmorow think nothing of burning a fetous, burning a building diown for some cartoon?
4.about arranged marriages and forced sleeping ...i don't know about you i am realising that barring some miniscule percentage the girls here whether they are married thru newspapers or choose their bedmates have screwed sex lives anyway...the freedom to choose is evry very superficial...

Kimberly, if you return to my blog - thanks for your comment. I agree with you, there is no comparison between the two, but I was thinking more in terms of what all is rational in the name of "freedom of expression"?

I'll write more about that in the blog.

Silbil, as usual you are a queen!
Yup, u r right, legalising prostitution is not just for those who do it by choice. It wd give them the right to better health, more dignity.. there are activists who have actually formed transnational alliances over this topic!
But I still don't know whether I truly support it's legalization. I have conflicting feelings - why are protitutes there at all? Just for male satisfaction? So doesn' t legalizing it say we are approving the notion that women are there to satisfy men's lusts???
But then not legalizing wd mean continued bad condidtins for existing prostitutes .. I cd go one on just this one! So more later
